At Bacon, we love music videos. We loved them back when they were on television, and we love them now that they have moved their home address to the world wide web.
When done right, a music video both adds layers to a song and showcases a director's personal tone of voice. Which is why we like to binge-watch our directors' music videos and would like to share that experience with you.
Since he turned from animation to live-action directing 15 years ago, Danish director Martin de Thurah has truly mastered the art of mesmerizing music videos. He has a distinct way of combining personal drama with supernatural elements, which somehow works wonders with everything from acoustic ballads to electronic bangers.
His latest work - Color Me - is more of a short film st to a song by Active Child than a music video, and honestly his work has always seemed to pull in that direction. All of his music videos have an interpretive and re-watchable quality to them that can be ominous and funny, but also deeply thought-provoking. Sometimes all of those things at the same time.
Here is a selection of Martin de Thurah's best music videos.
Prepare yourself for floating objects, floating people...and dancing. Wonderful, plentiful, glorious dancing.
Enjoy.
